The most impressive part of working at Walmart was seeing how positive the brand is viewed here in the United States. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, people are big on being “green”. But how can you be green when you’re struggling to make ends meet? Although people want to do what’s right for the environment, it’s difficult to change people’s behavior when so many are living paycheck to paycheck. I remember when energy a single compact fluorescent lightbulb cost over twenty dollars. Walmart began selling them for less than five dollars and within a year, sold over a million bulbs. Making incremental changes on a scale like this certainly makes a difference.
